The Asylum is the name of the upstairs venue in the union where tonight's bands are playing. It's a big airy room with tables and chairs and a nice big space for people to stand and watch bands. Only it's not very busy so everyone's just sitting around. Eight Page Pullout is a band that knows exactly when to jump to their snappy, happy songs. Their sound really reminds me of early Green Day with maybe a hint of The Ataris mixed in. Fast, pleasant tunes that will have you singing along in no time, with interesting bass lines especially on the one the bassist said was his favourite. During their set they also throw Kinder eggs to the crowd, which seems to be mostly made up of their friends.

No Escape have their fast, snappy songs too although they also mix in some big, lush builds within some songs, giving them a more emo-style sound. They are a three-piece and the drummer does the singing. Instead of chocolate eggs they throw CDs like missiles into the crowd, you have been warned!

Regardless of the poor turnout Turtlehead still blast through their new songs with an intensity that most bands couldn't even muster if they were playing a sold-out stadium. Although most people seem to be enjoying it, any appreciation is lost in the sheer size of the room. I have no trouble at all in getting to the front to take pictures; in fact it's kinda lonely out there so my sister comes with me. Brian dedicates the next song to us, which is pretty cool but we're probably the only two people he can actually see. I think the song is 'Welcome to Euthanasia', come on now, we're not that old! A few more familiar songs from their first two albums would have pleased me, I might even have danced like a maniac, but the new stuff sounds impressive and 'Kick Out the Jams' sounds amazing. Brian sits on the floor between songs and looks a bit pissed off to say the least but he keeps getting back up and giving it his all during the songs. One guy actually goes up and dances around a bit then gets invited onstage, jumps around with the band and then gets down to his underwear. It's a bit strange, but at least it's a reaction. They play 'Ruin My Day' and 'Video Killed the Radio Star' to finish off.
