Capdown ticket
Starting off tonight with a couple of their sax-laden songs, 'The Neverlution' and 'Cousin Cleotis', Capdown have already got the crowd going wild. The band's fervent mix of ska, sax and politically slanted lyrics mostly delivered at breakneck speed certainly seems to have made them very popular amongst this new generation of ska fans, decked out in their pork pie hats and school ties. Singer Jake apologises for The Distillers absence, they were supposed to be on the bill tonight, but to be honest I think I'm one of the few people who actually cared. Within this current ska explosion Capdown have the added extra of an all out enthusiasm that shows in every part of their delivery. The crowd is also very lively and there's much jumping and thrusting of arms, which is just as much reciprocated by Jake who is a one-man frenzy. Not that the rest of the band are exactly slouches themselves. 'Headstrong' is dedicated to Five Knuckle who have replaced The Distillers this evening and a mixture of old and new songs continue to keep the crowd more than happy; 'Ska Wars', 'Civil Disobedients' and 'Pound For The Sound' with Jake crowd surfing at one point, looking as if he might actually have been heading for the bar, he was so far out. But he makes it back to the stage and they finish with 'All Cops Are Bastards' a song that they've "been playing for about 7 years", and there's no pretence of an encore.
